Great Recognition for Ros Ritchie Wines

Our winemaker Ros Ritchie from Ros Ritchie Wines had huge success at the Federation Sq Wine Showcase of new releases in Melbourne recently. With seen wines on show she took five medals – two Gold and three Silver!!! The winning wines were 2012 Gewürztraminer and Riesling (Gold) with the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, Nebiolo and Cuvee taking silver.  The two Gold medals were the only two awarded in the show while the Gewurztraminer was also awarded Best in Show.  Great result for the Upper Goulburn region.  Grapes for all the winning wines were sourced from 5 local vineyards meaning the medal haul was representative of the Mansfield district and Upper Goulburn Wine Region as a whole.  Well done Ros and we are proud.

Our Blind Cricket Day – Bowled Over!!

HUME & HOVELL CUP 2012

This day was established to raise money for Vision Australia Radio, Victorian Blind Cricket Association & provide support from the Upper Goulburn Wine Growers Association for a community event in the Murrindindi shire. Our day at the Hume and Hovell Cricket Ground on 18th November was a great event with the 20 over cricket match, which was very exciting and a great spectacle. What an idyllic setting for such a family and community focused day, the weather was warm and sunny. Perfect for a cricket match.Apart from the cricket match the jumping castle, alpacas, games and the Yea Rotary B.B.Q were great attractions for all the visitors Attendance was estimated at 500 people, with wine present by Rocky Passes, Philip Lobley Wines, Ros Ritchie Wines, Sedona Estate and Barwite Vineyards.Another feature of the day was Wild Crust Bakery and their range of breads.A luncheon was available from The Pavilion Restaurant that was well supported by sponsors and visitors.Don McQueen charmed all comers with his brilliant Bush Stories that gave the day a special feeling about friendship in the country. The event will happen again next year, with a further 3 years planned at this stage. We need support not only from U.G.W.A but also UGFWCG and all other food venders from the local areas of Strath Creek, Flowerdale, Kinglake and others nearby. With a planned publicity program in 2013 this event has the potential to attract 3000 visitors and excellent exposure and sales for all the vendors who participate. For more information email:bryan@barwitevineyards.com.au
