Blind Cricket
On November 18 2012, the Hume and Hovell Cricket Oval at Strath Creek will become the centre of the cricketing world as the Victorian Blind Cricket Association takes on the Shepparton and area Rotary Club for the inaugural Vision Australia Radio Cup.
This challenging game of cricket, for both sides, will be a fundraiser for the radio station network and the Victorian Blind Cricket Association.
Supported by the Upper Goulburn Winegrowers Association, the local wineries, local restaurants and the town of Strath Creek, there will be local markets, food and wine tastings, entertainment for the kids, auctions, raffles, games of cricket for the kids and the grown-ups and buckets of fun. The money raised will go to Vision Australia Radio and the Victorian Blind Cricket Association.
TV and radio legend, John Blackman, will host the day and guests will mingle with the stars and cricket wanna-be’s!
The Hume and Hovell Oval is situated just out of the town of Strath Creek (population 432 on a good day) which is about 85K’s north of Melbourne and to the lower right of Shepparton. The oval itself is based on Lords in England… right down to the similar slope. Beautifully maintained by Don and Anne McQueen, this ground will become the centre of fun cricket on Sunday November 18.
Award winning wine maker, Ros Ritchie, has already accepted the role of honorary wine maker for the event and a special range of her whites and dry red have been set aside as special commemorative wines for sale.
The pitch is being prepared and the food and wine is being planned. The Hume and Hovell Cricket Ground on Sunday November 18 …bring your money with you!
