Marysville Sparkling Wine Festival
The inaugural Marysville Sparkling Wine Festival was held over four days during November, 2010. Now it is an annual event planned to coincide with the Melbourne Cup.
The main activities on the Festival calendar are the Australian Sparkling Wine Show, where the best sparkling wines in a variety of classes are chosen, a Gala Dinner and the wine festival itself, held on Melbourne Cup Day.
The festival is a day of food, wine and entertainment held on Marysville Central Park, in the main street of Marysville and nestled in the surrounding hills. Sparkling wines, local food and produce can all be sampled. The hills come alive with the sound of live music, fashions on the field and cooking demonstrations.
On November 18 2012, the Hume and Hovell Cricket Oval at Strath Creek will become the centre of the cricketing world as the Victorian Blind Cricket Association takes on the Shepparton and area Rotary Club for the inaugural Vision Australia Radio Cup.
This challenging game of cricket, for both sides, will be a fundraiser for the radio station network and the Victorian Blind Cricket Association.
Supported by the Upper Goulburn Winegrowers Association, the local wineries, local restaurants and the town of Strath Creek, there will be local markets, food and wine tastings, entertainment for the kids, auctions, raffles, games of cricket for the kids and the grown-ups and buckets of fun. The money raised will go to Vision Australia Radio and the Victorian Blind Cricket Association.
TV and radio legend, John Blackman, will host the day and guests will mingle with the stars and cricket wanna-be’s!
The Hume and Hovell Oval is situated just out of the town of Strath Creek (population 432 on a good day) which is about 85K’s north of Melbourne and to the lower right of Shepparton. The oval itself is based on Lords in England… right down to the similar slope. Beautifully maintained by Don and Anne McQueen, this ground will become the centre of fun cricket on Sunday November 18.
Award winning wine maker, Ros Ritchie, has already accepted the role of honorary wine maker for the event and a special range of her whites and dry red have been set aside as special commemorative wines for sale.
The pitch is being prepared and the food and wine is being planned. The Hume and Hovell Cricket Ground on Sunday November 18 …bring your money with you!

221 Wairere Rd, Boorolite: 03 57773447
Guest Cellar Doors day at Kinloch will be held on Saturday 1st December this year, in the Kinloch Wines cellar door gardens – this is our fourth year where Susan and Malcolm invite local labels from our region who do not have cellar door operations. This gives them the opportunity to showcase their boutique wines to visitors on the day. Taste before you buy and take home a flavour of the high country. Labels such as Barwite, Ros Ritchie, St Winifred’s, Buller View, Mt Samaria, Mansfield Park and Kinloch Wines and others will be available. It’s a great opportunity to purchase a special wine as a gift or for your Christmas table. Do keep the date free and come along and enjoy the day.
